Set up Microsoft Teams alerts.
Pingvella posts to Teams by sending a message to a webhook address. In Teams, that address belongs to a workflow (built in Power Automate) that posts what it receives into a channel or chat.
What Pingvella sends
Each alert is a small JSON request with the message in a field called text:
{"text": "[DOWN] Nightly backup missed its expected check-in and its grace period has passed."}
Your workflow only needs to take that field and post it.
1. Create the workflow
- Open Power Automate with your work account, or use Workflows in Teams.
- Choose Create, then Instant cloud flow, and name it (for example Pingvella alerts).
- For the trigger, choose When a Teams webhook request is received. When asked who can trigger the flow, choose Anyone, because Pingvella is not signed in to your tenant.
2. Post the message to a channel
- Add the action Post message in a chat or channel.
- Choose where it should post: Post as Flow bot, and the team and channel (or chat) that should receive alerts.
- In the Message box, choose Expression and enter
triggerBody()?['text'], then save the flow.
3. Copy the URL
- Open the saved flow and expand the trigger. Copy the HTTP POST URL.
- Keep it secret: anyone with it can post to that channel.
4. Add it to Pingvella
- On the Integrations page, choose Add Microsoft Teams.
- Give the destination a name, paste the URL, then save.
- Use Test on the destination. Pingvella posts a test alert; if you see it in the channel, you are done.
If you still have an older Office 365 connector webhook (an address on webhook.office.com) that works, Pingvella can use it too. Microsoft is retiring these, so new setups should use a workflow.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause |
|---|---|
The test says the request was rejected (401 or 403) | The trigger is restricted. Set who can trigger the flow to Anyone. |
| The test succeeds but nothing appears | Open the flow’s run history in Power Automate and check the post step. It usually needs the message set to the expression above, or permission to post in that channel. |
| The flow is switched off | Flows can be turned off or suspended by your organisation. Turn it back on in Power Automate. |
